Emulator and Win were about $125, I spent about a grand on the tower(the Mac was over $2k.). On my i7 Mac I can get the performance with SW and the others as I did on my i5 tower I built as a design station. Were I to do something like that I'd look at a spending a bit more for a Surface Pro rather than a laptop.įor the SD reader you can get a USB to SD dongle that works well for $10-20.įor Mac users though, if you've got a good machine already and need to run more powerful Win software emulating Win is more cost effective than buying a machine. The RAM and disks are slim but the machines aren't bad. You can get a good reburb, name brand laptop with full warranty for under $200 at Newegg and others. Thanks.Until a few years ago I ran a low cost Win laptop for at the track (off lease Dells from ebay), mostly for Aim Race Studio before you could download the data to a stick. I would say price is no object, but I would like to stay under $600. If anyone knows of a GPS unit that has all those features and is a good GPS, please let me know. I would also like voice recognition, but I could live without that one. The ability to send addresses from your computer (over the web) to the GPS The option to use only highways or avoid highwaysĤ. Ability to show cell phone call log (recent calls)ģ. Ability to import from Outlook or from phone address book contact addressesĢ. Now, besides those changes there are some other features it is lacking and I would like to know if anyone know of a GPS that has all the 680 features plus:ġ. Also, I would like to see the MP3 info and maybe be able to skip songs on the map screen without having to change to the MP3 screen.

What I would like to know is if there is a way to change the main map (3d) to show what turn to make next (an arrow near the street names) and if you can change it from time of arrival to time left to arrival (or have current time next to time of arrival).

I like the features I wanted, namely the bluetooth, traffic info, MP3 player, and lots of POIs and good maps (in general). Not exactly knowing what I needed, I purchased it from Costco so I could test it out.

I recently purchased a Garmin Nuvi 680 and it is OK so far.
